SPACs Continue to Focus on Vertical Farming Sector?

18 Feb. 2022

Vertical farming company Kalera (OTCPK:KSLLF) is accessing the public markets through a SPAC deal with Agrico Acquisition. Kalera joins other vertical farming companies that have gone public through SPACs. Local Bounti (NYSE:LOCL), Benson Hill (NYSE:BHIL) and AppHarvest (NASDAQ:APPH) all went public through SPAC deals last year.

Kalera specializes in providing local grown greens to communities all around the world using their vertical farming technology. Investors continue to have conviction that the future of farming is not in the field. Agrico Acquisition raised more than $140 million during its IPO and values the Kalera transaction at over $300 million. Agrico sold 14.375M units at $10 apiece to raise $143.75M in July, 2021.

Currently, all the vertical/indoor farming SPACs are well off their highs and near the 52-week low as tech and SPAC related stocks continued a downward trend into 2022.
